We were very lucky with the weather at our inaugural Carnoustie Beach Rugby Tournament. The sun shone but what made the day was the condition of the sand. We were incredibly lucky to have a local expert on hand to keep us right. We’re calling him an expert. He is, but in the dark art of maintaining the best golf course in the world, which is not easy!
Watching him in action was like sitting in a Japanese garden. We could have watched him all day! You felt relaxed and tranquil and as his tractor moved around it looked like the best sand rugby pitches the world has ever seen!
You’ve all heard the saying “You can’t turn a sows ear into a silk purse!” Well this guy not only created a fantastic beach rugby playing surface but he did it like this was his daily job.
We would like to thank head greenkeeper at Carnoustie Golf Links, Craig Boath for giving up his time to help Carnoustie Beach Rugby. He didn’t have to and we are so lucky to have him. Craig was instrumental in ensuring the sand was playable.
Thanks Craig, you’re a true legend!
