Carnoustie Beach Rugby is all about the teams that enter and we’d like to give a warm welcome to Brechin Bruce aka “The Bruce!” CBR caught up with the team and found out some cool things about them.
Do you have any unusual team facts? “The Bruce” is an Golden Oldie Team full of old farts! They are always well supported and have embraced the mantra fun, friendship and fraternity.
What’s the funniest thing that has ever happened to your club or team? We love going on tour and you know what they say – what goes on tour, stays on tour!!
What is the strangest thing you have acquired either on tour or on your away trips? We have several other club strips in our possession – be warned!!
Team or club rugby highlight? First tour to Italy and Old Alastair stealing the limelight! For those who don’t know, Alastair Urquhart is a legend of the game. Playing into his 80’s. You can recognise him by the cap he wears to play the game. What a gent and ambassador for rugby.
Who is your team Lothario? Too many to mention. Its clear from this interview that the team is full of silver tongued foxes.
Who is most likely to fall asleep on a night out? Matthew Chisholm – CBR hope that Matthew keeps his hair at the end of the night. Men are obsessed with shaving their friends hair!
Who is most likely to get sent off? Keith (Pick on the big lad) Garrick. We think this is because the big lads do all the dirty work for the wee lads to get all the glory!
Who is your top pint guzzler? Kitty Strachan. We’ll see how he gets on in our pint swilling contest!! Plenty of Bills Beer to be drunk Kitty!
Top tip for tournament top tryscorer? Response “dinna be an arse about it.” This response from The Bruce made us laugh.
